What is a Passphrase used for?

A Passphrase is a phrase set up by you and known only to you. It is stored in an encrypted form by IDyME and it is used to secure the communication between you and the organisation calling you.

When an organisation authenticated by registering with IDyME calls you, they will either send the passphrase you set up to your Smartphone, or tell you your passphrase if they call you on a landline. This is how you can be certain that the caller is indeed calling from the organisation they say that they are calling from.

This is a unique way of securing you. Scammers may be able to reproduce the IDyME screen, but they would not have access to your passphrase, which is why it is absolutely essential that you check that the correct passphrase has either been sent to your Smartphone, or told to you on your landline, in every communication you receive.

Who is registered with IDyME?

Every day we are looking at new companies to join IDyME to help us to create a safer environment, free of scams for everyone. In general, companies that register with IDyMe are committed to protecting their customers and a scam free industry.

How does IDyME work?

IDyME works by keeping an encrypted register of companies and their employees, and identifies the company and the employee contacting you when a communication is started. This is done in conjunction with encryption and a Passprahse that gives you an added level of certainty. We use parallel communications via two different media, lest say telephone and internet to maximise security.
